We’re getting it all wrong when it comes to self-esteem.
Our society has been molded into believing that building self-esteem is all about getting over your fears and speaking up for what’s right. I agree with that, but the concept of building self-esteem goes deeper than that.
We need to stop chasing self-esteem and start focusing on something else.
Instead, here’s what to focus on and how to do it.
Step 01) Divide your life into major sections
Write these words down.
- Personal development
Step 02) Write down how you feel about those sections
Next to the words above, write what you believe about yourself relating to that word.
Example: Relationships – Strained. They are hard to maintain.
Step 03) Write down the opposite
If the beliefs you just wrote down were negative, look up the antonyms of those beliefs.
Example: Relationships – Healthy. I want to maintain them.
Once you’ve done that, go over your list again. Your beliefs about every section of your life will now be positive beliefs.
Claim them as truths and own it.
You have now discovered your self-limiting beliefs and know how to combat them.
This is a highly effective method of shifting a currently negative state into a positive one.
Instead of chasing self-esteem, we need to identify our self-limiting beliefs and claim the opposite.
It’s a deep lesson on the art of self confidence.
Be sure to comment with your positive self beliefs!
Are you going to stop chasing self-esteem and focus on identifying self-limiting beliefs instead?
